Identifying with a columnist

I am writing in response to Denise Spellman’s piece (“Withholding the truth about Thornburg’s departure” April 6). This column was intelligent and informing and pointed to yet another flaw in our University’s administration process. In a large school full of apathy and cynicism, I feel that her columns affect at least one reader.

I would like to tell Ms. Spellman that week in and week out she continues to impress me with her anecdotes and humor. I, along with the rest of the student body, can only hope that the Westlings and Silbers of the world begin to take a critical look at their own administration and make the necessary changes to ensure that Boston University remains an honest and respected institution in the realm of higher education.
