Stop Terrorism Now

Terrorism must stop. Right now. President Bush launched yet another attack on the American people in his State of the Union address, and it’s high time that somebody stop him and his cronies. Inciting the darkest fears of the American people, the President would like to see us foaming at the mouths like wild dogs. Creating phantom enemies and resurrecting old ghosts, the President is shepherding us and our freedoms to the slaughterhouse. There is no “Axis of Evil” seeking to destroy our way of life (unless you consider the partnership between the Executive branch and the Judicial branch). Upon close inspection it is obvious that Iraq, Iran, and North Korea pose no threat to us. Iraq is under constant surveillance by satellites and spy planes 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Saddam couldn’t even launch a spit ball without the entire world knowing about it. Change is in the air in Iran, President Khatami’s reforms are liberalizing his country and hopefully Iran will someday shine as a beacon of democracy in the Middle East. North Korea has halted its nuclear weapons research at the behest of China and Russia. With the Whitehouse’s help, Korea could soon become one country again. If the “Great Unifier” focused his efforts on this goal, we would have nothing to fear from Korea for a long time.

We stand on the precipice of a new world, the President’s saber rattling does little but incite anti-American hardliners to undo all the good which is being accomplished in their countries. He means to scare us, terrorize us into following him blindly into the night. I for one won’t stand for it anymore. He’s not my President.

That is my opinion at least, I do not want anyone to follow it blindly. Learn about the issues at hand yourselves, and make your own opinion. The Internet is a great resource for learning, second only to the professors we have here at BU. Ask them questions and pick their minds, and then go to the library and research the topic yourself. You might be surprised by what you find.
