Release True Data

On Monday, I received an email requesting that I participate in a Boston University-wide survey, conducted by the Office of Enrollment at the request of President Westling. I took the survey, wanting to give Westling an anonymous piece of my mind. To my surprise, it was actually a good survey, and I am curious about the results. There is a huge variety of issues I am very interested in knowing about, including how others feel about the overall quality of the campus social scene, the quality of advisers and teachers and the helpfulness of the administration. If enough people fill the survey out, and the methodology does not prove flawed, this could be a great way to see how the BU student community really feels, as opposed to the few people who complain in the Student Union or to The Daily Free Press.

So, this letter is for the Office of Enrollment and President Westling. Release the data from this survey: not just your interpretation of the results, but also the raw data that was collected. Since it is already in a computer database, making it available is simple. I fear the results from this survey will never be released by BU or that only results favorable to BU will be released. The results would be useful to the Student Union and student groups around BU.
