W. golf places third out of three at CCSU Tri-Match

Junior Ana Johnson’s 85-stroke outing headlined a last-place showing by the Boston University women’s golf team at the Central Connecticut State University Tri-Match tournament Sunday afternoon in Wethersfield, Conn.

CCSU freshman Anna Ausanio took home the individual championship (40-39-79), topping CCSU freshman Katie Reid (38-43-81) by two strokes. Despite placing the top two individual finishers, the Blue Devils lost out to the University of Hartford for the team championship.

Johnson, who shot 41-44 for the Terriers at Wethersfield Country Club, finished sixth overall, one stroke ahead of senior teammate Kaitlyn Mardeusz (41-45-86). Other Terriers in competition included sophomore Courtney Dampolo (T-10th, 42-26-88), junior Dana DeStefano (T-12th, 44-45-89), freshman Kaitlin Garske (T-12th, 42-47-89) and freshman Jill Eelman (T-14th, 46-45-91).

The Terriers next competition comes this weekend with two days of golf at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H.
