AP calls Mass. gubernatorial election for Republican candidate Charlie Baker

The Associated Press called the 2014 Massachusetts gubernatorial election in favor of Republican candidate Charlie Baker early Wednesday morning.

Baker’s opponent, Democratic candidate Martha Coakley, is not conceding, did not speak at her election party and announced via her press spokespeople that no speech would be made until Wednesday.

Baker and Coakley remained neck-in-neck a majority of the night, ending with a final count of 1,005,353 votes, or 48.3 percent when the election was called, with about 97 percent of precincts reported. Coakley followed close behind with 46.7 percent.
