Early in the morning of July 17, a power outage is taking place on various parts of Boston University’s campus for approximately forty-five minutes.
BU Spokesperson Colin Riley wrote in an email that smaller buildings will be affected on sections of South Campus, Commonwealth Avenue, Kenmore Square and 675 Commonwealth Avenue. Larger campus buildings get their electricity from high voltage systems and will not be affected by the power outage.
“Facilities notified the BU offices that may be affected this afternoon,” Riley wrote. “Flashlights have been pre-deployed to Residential Areas in case they are needed during the brief outages and Facilities staff will be on hand.”
The electrical services company, Eversource Energy, is doing emergency repairs in order to prepare for the high temperatures that are coming later this week.
That is definitely not true. I reside in 14 Buswell St (grad students residence) and we’ve been 6 hours without electricity. We didn’t get any clear information of what’s going on from maintenance. With these temperatures all my food is trash now.
45 minutes? 6 hours. With no light in any place on my floor. No information nor nothing from Maintenance Dept and rotten food.
