Crime Logs

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs from Oct. 24 to Oct. 30, 2011.

Mystery Shower

At 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, BU’s Building & Grounds Department notified police of destruction to property at the College of General Studies. They reported that a safety shower system for eye washing had been turned on for several hours in room 417. The water soaked through the floor and damaged floors below. The incident is under investigation.

Halloweekend bust

On the corner of Beacon Street and Park Drive, two BU students were stopped by police for carrying alcohol while appearing underage at 10 p.m. on Oct. 28. Police found them to both be in possession of alcohol and confirmed that they were underage. Both students will be summoned to the Roxbury District Court.

Ding dong ditch

In front of 517 Beacon St., a male student was arrested on Friday, Oct. 28, for being intoxicated and causing a disturbance in front of the building. Police said he was ringing doorbells and yelling at people as they walked by and causing disorder. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct by BUPD at about 1 a.m.

What a scream

BUPD transported 14 students via ambulance for public intoxication this past weekend. Halloween weekend proved to be one of the busiest weekends for alcohol transports this year on BU’s campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods, police said.

Goodwill, bad luck

On Oct. 26, a student reported that his backpack went missing from the Goodwill located at 965 Commonwealth Ave. The student accidentally left his backpack in the store earlier that day and returned at 5 p.m. to retrieve it, but found that it was missing. The backpack contained a laptop, which has not yet been recovered.

The price of snoozing

A student reported on Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. that his cell phone was stolen after he fell asleep at a desk on the third floor of Mugar Memorial Library. The student said he dozed off for about 20 minutes and woke up without his cell phone next to him. The phone has not been located. Two other thefts were reported to BUPD from Mugar this week.

Possible repeat offender

On Oct. 24 at 8 p.m., a female student reported that a male attempted and failed to grab her cell phone as she was walking in front of 736 Commonwealth Ave. He fled and another male was waiting for him on a motor scooter, and they took off. A similar incident where two males on a motor scooter stole a cell phone happened on Bay State Road two weeks ago, but police are unsure if the incidents are related.
