Police find no threat after reports of suspicious package near CAS

A suspicious package was reported near 725 Commonwealth Ave., according to a Boston University Alert Service message sent to students around 4:30 p.m.

Boston University Police Department and Boston Police Department officers cleared the scene and determined no threat in the area, according to a subsequent alert message sent to students around 5 p.m.

“You’re going to hear about these things over the next few weeks and people report as much as they can, people keep vigilant,” said BU spokesman Colin Riley.

The reports came after two explosions went off near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, killing three people and injuring 176.
