The Philadelphia 76ers are different this season. For the first time in a decade, the team is no longer fully dependent on Joel Embiid — one of the league's best players plagued by the constant injury issues — who has kept the 76ers in a continuous loop of “what-ifs” and “maybes” every time the season ends without a championship.

It’s no wonder why gambling has become a problem in the NBA. Americans bet nearly $150 billion on sports in 2024, according to the American Gaming Association. Sports betting is especially addictive.

The Boston Celtics won’t be the worst team in the NBA this year, but they’re certainly far removed from the lofty heights of their 2024 championship run. The team opened their 2025-26 campaign with a 117-116 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at home that culminated in one of the closest endgames possible in the sport.
