St. Patrick’s Day — Southie style

Several thousand spectators converged on South Boston yesterday for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Bands and bagpipers wound their way through the historic streets of Southie while taverns kept the cold beer flowing all day long. The Tabuch Ard band marched with one of the youngest bagpipers in the parade (above). Theresa Peterson, Chris Devlin and Ann Swain, of the Gold Star Mothers organization, received a warm salute from a bandleader (left). Julie Catherine White, 3, got a better view of the parade from her father Bob’s shoulders. (lower left). With the clouds moving in, a band of pipers made their way home after a long day of marching and playing.
