I was rather irked by the narrow-minded comments made by students concerning mail services on campus in a Free Press article about the BU mail service (“From belated bills to missing magazines, BU mail a mystery” April 12). I have worked in the Warren Towers mail room now for almost the entire school year, and I, too, have wondered where the cards with mother’s $20 wound up. I also have been annoyed at not receiving bills or not having them show up in my mailbox until after the payment for them was due. But when I want to buy a magazine, I buy my own.
I have NO deceiving plans to cheat you out of your Sports Illustrated or the cookies your grandmother baked for you. I don’t need to go through your personal cards and steal your monetary gifts, ESPECIALLY when I realize how very annoying it is to not receive my own.
The bottom line is don’t be angry with me because the people in Kenmore might be unscrupulous jerks. I am the person who signs out packages to you with a smile. The best guarantee for receiving mail: Make sure your PROPER BOX NUMBER is on the parcel/letter, and if you are expecting some cash in your card have it sent in a manila envelope. That way the greedy pigs who are stealing your money won’t be able to see the money in the envelope so easily.
