Staples and the destruction of our forests

As a concerned student at Boston University, I was disturbed to learn of Staples contribution to the destruction of our nation’s forests. As an $11 billion dollar company, Staples certainly has the resources to work towards protecting our country’s forests, rather than exploiting them.

Simply by stocking more recycled products, and paper products with higher recycled content, Staples can do a tremendous amount towards the protection of forests in the United States. I understand that Staples is making positive steps towards this protection, but they still have a long ways to go.

On Tuesday, February 5 there was a protest in Harvard Square. The theme was to welcome the new CEO with the hopes that he will lead this company forward by making use of more recycled products. I hope that he will agree with the protestors and take steps in the right direction.
