Housing Education

The Student Union wholeheartedly agrees with Monday’s editorial, “Researching your residence,” on the importance of knowing your options when it comes housing selection time. This is why the Student Union Senate Residence Life Committee provides a great resource for on-campus students: the Back Door website.

The Back Door is an unofficial guide to all the dorms at BU put together by members of the Union. The site gives pros and cons, room photos, a list of facilities available and tips submitted by students who actually live there. All of this information can help you decide which dorm is right for you and is especially helpful for freshman and students new to BU. The Back Door is located on the Student Union’s web site at http://www.bu.edu/union/backdoor.

To those who still believe the Union does nothing, the Senate Residence Life Committee is working diligently on revamping the site this week as housing selection approaches. Look for new photos, more tips and possibly even dorm floor plans (with a little help from the powers that be at BU).

As a side note, another great opportunity to check out residences on campus is the Housing Expo put on by the Office of Housing. It will be held Feb. 27 from 3-8 p.m. in the GSU Ballroom. Representatives from each dorm will be there to answer any questions you may have.
