The following were taken from last week’s Boston University Police Department logs.
Three 18-year-old male BU students were reportedly robbed behind Star Market early Sunday morning, police said.
The men told police they were walking down Gardner Street toward Babcock Street when a dark-colored model 740 BMW pulled up beside them. Four or five males allegedly then began yelling at them for money and property.
The three students tried to run, but the driver got out of the car and grabbed one of the men, reportedly placing what the man believed to be a gun to the back of his head. The suspect allegedly shouted at the victim, “Give me your wallet!” and told the other two victims to return to the car, according to BUPD.
According to police reports, the man reached in his back pocket and handed him his wallet. The suspect then let him go and allegedly removed $45 from the wallet and threw it on the ground. The driver then returned to his car, drove up Gardener Street, and took a right on Alcorn Street, police said.
One of the men dialed 911 from his cell phone and Boston Police responded. The next morning, BUPD was informed of the incident. The suspect is described as a black male, 23, 6-feet 1-inch, 180 lbs., wearing a dark shirt, blue jeans and sneakers, police said.
*The Warren Towers Campus Convenience was allegedly victimized by an armed robber on Feb. 13 at about 1:30 a.m.
Police responded when the panic alarm was activated at 702 Commonwealth Ave. and the female store employee reported she was robbed at gunpoint, BUPD said.
The woman told police a male suspect approached the register and placed a few items on the counter. He then reached with his right hand into the left side of his waistband and allegedly withdrew a gun, the woman told police.
The suspect told the employee to “Remain calm and open the register,” according to police reports. The victim complied, and the suspect reportedly reached in, grabbed some money and ran out the door.
The suspect took $165 in cash and is described as a white male, about 40 years old, wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and construction boots.
Through videotapes and conversations with Boston detectives — who had similar incidents — detectives were able to identify the man. He was reportedly arrested for an armed home invasion on the same night, and was in court when BU detectives lodged an arrest warrant, police said.
A fire most likely caused by an unattended candle occurred on the fourth floor of Rich Hall on Feb. 15 at about 8 p.m., according to police.
BUPD responded to the alarm and arrived at the same time as the Boston Fire Department. Firefighters entered the building and discovered smoke coming from the fourth floor and a flow of water flowing down the elevator shaft.
On the fourth floor, the firefighters saw water damage and a large quantity of smoke coming from one room. They entered the room and found the fire, which was extinguished by the sprinklers, police said.
$737 in property was taken from Warren Towers between Feb. 12 at 6 p.m.-Feb. 13 at 1 a.m., police said.
The victim, an 18-year-old female BU student, told officers an envelope containing $500 in cash and four checks worth a total of $237, were taken from her room. According to police, there were no signs of forced entry, but the victim said the door was locked “a majority of the time.”
*Two laptops were taken from a classroom in 590 Commonwealth Ave. on Feb. 14 between 4 and 5 p.m., BUPD said.
An 18-year-old BU student was transported to the hospital after consuming too much alcohol at 200 Bay State Rd. on Feb. 14 at 11 p.m., police said.
Police responded to a call concerning an intoxicated student and met with the victim upon arrival. According to police, the victim said he drank three-quarters of a bottle of rum. He said he became sick and vomited several times.
An ambulance was called, and the student was taken to Boston Medical Center. The Dean of Students was notified for further disciplinary action, police said.
