Two Terrier soccer players were honored by the America East Conference for their breakout play during the first few games.
On Monday, Sept. 9, men’s soccer freshman midfielder Sedrick Chin was named conference Rookie of the Week after he posted a four-point game against the University of Massachusetts at Amherst last Friday. BU won the game, 3-1, and Chin figured into the scoring on every goal.
The Jamaica native was also named to the National Team of the Week by CollegeSoccerNews.com.
The other player who made a big difference in the first week of the season was Meghann Cook. Like Chin, the freshman women’s soccer player was named Rookie of the Week by the America East.
In just her second game as a college player on Sept. 1 at the University of Kansas, Cook scored the first goal of her career that helped BU into overtime against the Jayhawks. Kansas went on to win the game in double overtime, 2-1.
Cook came back in her next game last Sunday against Massachusetts to score a goal at 42:35 of the first half that gave the Terriers a 2-1 lead at the time. BU eventually won the game, 3-2. The women’s soccer team (2-1-0) plays tomorrow against Rutgers University.
