TO be clear: I am not a “atheistic, God-hating scientist” as the term is contradictory (an athiest doesnt believe in God and thus cannot hate Him), but i am a scientist and need to see something to believe it. I believe in evolution, and I do not thik that there is a higher divinity guiding us through our lives. One thing i do believe in is maturity, and many people both religious and agnostic need to grow up.
Scientist attempt to prove that humans have evolved from primates, discovering civilization and intellect. Christians believe that we humans are created in the image of GOd and were given the realm of earth to live in…or so my grandmother told me. ONe common theme is that we humans of today are supposed to be higher organisms, whether through evolution or because we’re part of Gods creation. As intelligent beings we must learn toleration.
I know of few scientists who would enter a church throwing around journal articles that prove there is evolution, and none of my Christian friends ever destroy science labs. The readers of the DFP come from many backgrounds, and need to respect varying beleifs: especially at such an international school like BU.
So Suck up your hate and accept that everyone is not going to be like you. In this post-9/11 world one would think that the educated and priveledged would have learned not to squabble over these immature arguements.
