Student reports jeans stolen; car vandalized

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs:

A 20-year-old BU student reported stolen jeans to BUPD on Aug. 31 at 3:30 p.m., according to police logs. The man told police that between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. an unknown person stole a pair of jeans from his closet. He told police that he hung the pair in the closet before he left and returned to find the hanger empty, police said. According to police officials, the victim claimed he was “certain they had been there.” The victim also reported he found extra wires under his desk that he said were not there when he left. Police said there was no evidence of forced entry and there are no suspects or witnesses.

Vandalism

—BU Media Services reported vandalism to one of its vehicles during the night of Aug. 30, according to BUPD. The Honda Civic, parked in the alley behind West Campus, was discovered with a damaged hood and smashed front windshield on Aug. 31. There are no suspects or witnesses in this case, police said.

Purse Thefts

—A purse was stolen from the BU Bookstore Starbucks CafÈ at 6:15 p.m. on Aug. 26, according to BUPD police. The victim was a 63-year-old non-BU student residing in Boston. According to police, she said she was sitting in the cafÈ with her purse under the table. When she checked for her purse, she discovered it was gone. The purse was taken along with $15 and personal pictures, said BUPD officials. There are no suspects or witnesses in this case.

—A 29-year-old female BU student reported a missing purse on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m., according to police. The victim told police she was sitting in Beijing CafÈ, 728 Comm. Ave., with her purse strapped to her chair. She discovered her purse missing when she turned to get her money, police said. There are no suspects or witnesses in this case.

—Property totaling $95 was stolen from a female BU student on Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. in 735 Comm. Ave., police said. The victim reported she left her purse in a locked office and returned to find it missing. According to police, the $45 purse was taken as well as $50 in cash and various credit cards. There are no suspects or witnesses in this case.
