In attacking Elliot Levy (“New York? Give me a break,” Nov. 14, pg. 10) Santino Carnevale might have been trying to convince Freep readers that all New Yorkers are “extremely narrow-minded” people, but only succeeded in making an ass of himself. His sweeping generalizations that all New Yorkers are “arrogant people” who can’t comprehend a world beyond Manhattan only proved that he’s the narrow-minded one. There are certainly plenty of rude New Yorkers, but there are plenty of compassionate, friendly people who live there, too – just like any city! Next time Santino should consider how small-minded he’s being before making such obnoxoius generalities about an entire city.
