Police reportedly took a man into custody after he fled on foot when pulled over on North Beacon Street for driving with defective brake lights. A chase ensued, in which an officer reportedly sustained minor injuries and another climbed an eight-foot chain link fence last Tuesday morning.
Josua Lazar Pagan, 21, of Marlborough, was driving a 1990 black Acura Integra at 11:50 a.m. Tuesday, when Officer Randall Childs pulled him over for having defective brake lights, according to police.
Pagan, who did not have a license on him, allegedly gave Childs a fake name and then ran into a the courtyard of a condo while Childs was checking the alias for previous violations. Childs chased after him, but slipped on wet leaves and fell, according to reports.
Two officers responding to calls for backup saw the suspect running through a side yard on Etna Street. Officer Celluci captured the suspect after climbing an eight-foot fence.
Pagan was taken to the Allston-Brighton Police Station, where he reportedly told police, ‘I ran because I didn’t have a license.’ His license was found to be revoked after numerous violations. Pagan was cited for driving without a license, defective brake lights and driving without wearing a seatbelt. The owner of the car, Alberto Flores of 18 Francesca Ave., Somerville, was cited for defective brake lights and letting Pagan drive his car without a license.
Childs suffered cuts on his hands, left thigh and above his right eyebrow. After bring taken to St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, he was examined and found to have a damaged rotator cuff. Celluci cut her right hand while climbing the fence and was given a tetanus shot at St. Elizabeth’s.
CHARITABLE DONATION Three men were arrested early Sunday morning shortly after a 20-year-old Brighton man was allegedly robbed of $100 on the corner of Harvard Avenue and Farrington Avenue while walking back to his car with a companion, according to police reports.
The victim said he was confronted by three men at about 2:45 Sunday morning. The men reportedly shouted at him and one said, ‘just give us what you have.’ They appeared to be reaching for a weapon, the victim told police. One of the men hit him on the right cheek, the victim said. The victim gave the men a $100 bill, and the men fled in a white Range Rover.
The victim then reported the mugging to Officer George Crowley, who broadcasted descriptions of the suspects and the car. Crowley reportedly found the empty Range Rover, identified with a partial license plate, parked in front of Kinvara Pub, around the corner from where the mugging took place.
At 3:10 a.m., two other officers saw the car driving on Harvard Avenue and pulled it over. The victim identified the three men from the car as the men who mugged him.
Police arrested the driver, 23-year-old Shiller M. Erilus, of 5525 Canoga Ave., Woodland Hills, Calif., as well as the two passengers, 23-year-old Franciso Erold, of 1818 Walton Ln., Smyrna, Ga., and 25-year-old Harry Denis Jr., of 35 Sinclair Rd., Brockton.
The stolen $100 bill was not recovered, but the men had over $1,000 in cash on them, the report said.
