Well it seemed like a good year for BU. For the first time in my four years here I know our student union president’s name! John Silber is going to speak to the student body “en masse” for the first time in ten years. Well I thought after all this time it would be good to actually see the face of the man I have heard so much about. I should hear the words from his own mouth, and decide for myself whether he has done more good or more evil here. So why am I here at home 20 minutes after the start of the historic lecture? BU planning, at its best. I was one of the first turned away from SMG 105 tonight when the seats filled up. I didn’t care, let me stand. Fire regulations. Where’s the overflow room? we wanted to know. Go home and listen to it on the radio. WTBU? We all know he sold our radio tower and broadcasting capabilities years ago. So as I write my roommate refreshes her browser to www.wtburadio.com every minute or two each time it freezes up. I guess we’re not the only ones who are home trying for the second best thing. We’ll try to form our own opinions based on this broken up “broad” cast, but tonight I’m already jaded again. As I fought with a doorman trying to pass myself off as press and stand in the back, I was told that there will be another lecture next semester. Well by that time my body won’t be far behind my brain which will be out of here. Thanks BU. Megan Johnson CAS ’03
