The following are taken from the logs of the Boston University Police Department from Dec. 2-8.
A purse left unattended outside a room was stolen from the College of Fine Arts, 855 Commonwealth Ave., on Dec. 4. The thief removed a debit card from the purse and charged $400 on it. A wallet was stolen from a pair of pants left in a dressing room at CFA on Dec. 7. The wallet contained $10 in cash, an identification and ATM card. A wallet was stolen from an unattended jacket left outside a rehearsal room at CFA on Dec. 8. The wallet contained $30. A Barnes ‘ Noble employee found $120 was stolen from her wallet on Dec. 2. She had left the wallet unattended in her purse in a back room. Two microcentrifuges were stolen from an unlocked cabinet at 590 Commonwealth Ave. on Dec. 3. The value of the items stolen totaled $5,000. A backpack left unattended in a room was stolen from a student at 745 Commonwealth Ave. on Dec. 5. The backpack contained a laptop, radio and papers, valued at $1,500. A purse left in an instrument case at CFA was reported stolen on Dec. 6. The purse was found in another room the day after its disappearance, but a wallet that had been in the purse was missing. A Dell laptop and $100 cash were taken from an unsecured room at 610 Beacon St. on Dec. 7.
UNWELCOME VISITORS
A Boston University student giving a presentation during a class at 635 Commonwealth Ave. on Dec. 4 noticed an unfamiliar black female in her 40s sitting next to her purse. When the student finished her presentation, she returned to her seat to find her ATM card stolen. The thief later attempted to use the ATM card, but failed. Someone tried to force open an apartment door at 728 Commonwealth Ave. on Dec. 5. The resident was home at the time, and the individual attempting to open the door left. There are no known suspects. A BU student returned from class on Dec. 8 to find evidence of an attempt to remove the hinges of the door to her apartment. The screws holding the hinges on were missing and the mirror on the back of the door was shattered. Nothing was stolen from the apartment. A suspicious white male, 20 to 30 years old, of medium build wearing jeans and a colored T-shirt, was seen in the area in the afternoon.
PAGING DR. FREUD…
The word ‘boner’ was found spray-painted in blue on the pillars outside the College of Arts and Sciences, 685 Commonwealth Ave., on Dec. 7. Police say the vandalism took place over the weekend. Depictions of male genitalia were found spray-painted in blue and orange on the rear doors of 178-184 Bay State Rd. and 727 Commonwealth Ave. on Dec. 8.
MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
A student was struck by a car at Commonwealth Avenue and Buick Street on Dec. 6. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries to her hip. A student was struck by a taxi on Dec. 3 at 12:15 a.m. She was attempting to cross the BU Bridge at the time, and was taken to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
