Boston University Never Fails (to Disappoint)

Kudos to Boston University for their “We Remember” link, at the very noticeable bottom of their home page. There they pay homage to those who where lost in the tragic events on September 11, but not before these alumni handed heaps of money in the form of tuition and room and board payments. After all, nothing is more important to B.U. than collecting your money, by any means necessary; even if it means stressing students out more by sending them seven-day eviction notices in the middle of January. This was made apparent when I found out that one of my best friends has a week to come up with five thousand dollars, or start vacuuming so that his side of the room looks nice for the new tenant. Some of us don’t have 5-grand in our sock drawer in case of emergencies or eviction notices; not even in a good economy. What really makes my blood boil, what has me minutes away from dying of a stroke, is that the friend I’m speaking of is a veteran, here in part because the GI Bill is picking up a good portion of the tab. We enjoy privileges not held by other peoples; we live in one of the safest, richest, most prosperous, (and of greatest importance) one of the freest countries in the world; all because of men and women like him. Considering he gave the army years of his youth, and would fight and give his life for this country, the absolute least, most miniscule thing this university could do, is take his word that his bills will be paid.

Appalled, Disgusted, Revolted, Disappointed, and with blood pressure soaring,
