Iggy and Rolf and Valentine’s Day

Iggy and Rolf is one of the more unusual features of The Daily Free Press. However, the cartoon regarding Valentine’s Day was one of the best I’ve ever read. It raises an excellent point that everyone needs to stop complaining about Valentine’s Day and everything that is included with it. I know that it is hard to not have a boyfriend or girlfriend on one of the most romantic days of the year, but wait your turn. Look at it this way, you don’t have to worry about paying for dinner, ordering flowers, finding the right card and all the other troublesome things that come along with the holiday. Plus, the holiday is about showing love to people, not just a significant other. Send a valentine to your parents and give little cards and candy to your friends as if you were in elementary school again; it puts the fun back into the holiday. Yes, it is a commercialized holiday, but then again, so is Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and the 4th of July. Face it, in America, we love holidays and the stores, especially those in the card and candy business, know this and they are going to cater to the busiest times of the year.
