Silber

Alright. I’m a senior now and nothing has changed. I still hate Johnny-Boy Silber and I blame him for the overall lack of community at this university. His policies are even more old and out-dated than he is. I can’t believe that if anyone knew he covered up cases of rape and actively attempts to prevent campus unity they would still choose to enroll here. I know I wouldn’t have. I could continue my tirade but I think everyone gets the jist of how I feel about him. Regardless of my feelings for John I still have some school spirit, but I scoffed at Alumni Relations attempts to put the squeeze on even before I’ve graduated. This spawned my greatest genious yet. I want to create a charity, or fund, or whatever it is that would be appropriate so that people could donate money to the school. The trick would be that the money would be held in an account until such a time that Silber is no longer with us. Take that to mean dead or at least not affiliated with Boston University. Now some will be appalled by this but I’m serious. I think there would be at least a million in the account before he kicks the bucket. Contracts with the devil tend to grant long life. I’ve had a good time in college despite John’s attempts to quelch the child within me. Hopefully I wont need to follow through on this and he will leave the school soon and voluntarily, but I wont hold my breath. ———————————————- You guys probably wont print this, I didn’t really spend much time on it. But, I hope whoever reads it gets the point.

On an unrelated note: Prof. Philip Kubzansky died over Christmas break. He was a long time teacher at BU and I had the privledge of taking a class with him in the fall. Unfortunately he died over the break only 2 weeks or so after having turned in his grades. He taught the entire semester and never mentioned anything more than a weakened immune system. He was hands down of the best teachers I’ve had in college. I was curious why there is no mention of a death of a teacher in the paper.

On another note: Someone should do a how-to feature on using ACS to the fullest. Most people dont know they can print to the lab from their home, bypassing having to wait an hour in the lab, or get their print quota increased for free by sending an e-mail. It took me a year and a half to learn how to print single sided or unstapled, both useful. Even publishing the links to the the BU sites would be nice because BU makes them so damn hard to find. Teach people how to setup the proxy server on their offcampus computers so they can access all the libraries resources from their couch. One thing BU has done fairly right is their computer systems and if you know how to use it it can be really useful.

I’m done babbling, maybe I’ll try and write a better letter before the end of the year.
