Rowing Teams

BU is a great sports school even without men’s football – given. Why did the efforts of the rowing teams who competed on Saturday in rough conditions at home not earn some space in the student newspaper? The teams clearly represent some of the hardest working athletes on campus. Even more interesting from a general audience perspective, I believe, is that many team members on these Division I teams are walk-on’s and had never been “on the water” prior to their BU experience. Their success is a tribute to the world-class coaching staff as well as the efforts of the individual team members. I think the editors of the Daily Free Press are missing a great story as well as doing a dis-service to the student body by keeping the successes and efforts of the BU rowing teams a secret.
