Every year, The Daily Free Press invites each of the prospective Student Union Executive Board slates to draft an open letter to the Boston University community detailing their beliefs, goals and proposals.
‘True’ was founded in 2002 on the tenet that talented, dedicated and experienced students should utilize the Union to make a real, positive impact at BU. ‘True’ believes in developing a partnership with the administration to bring you successful policy changes.
Today, ‘True 2’ seeks to continue serving the student body on the 2003-2004 Student Union Executive Board. ‘True 2’ is made up of eight individuals who have pride in BU and who are passionate about improving campus life. Through their current and past involvement in over 30 diverse student organizations, ‘True 2’ has proven their dedication and ability to positively impact your campus.
The ‘True 2’ slate is committed to providing the truth about students.
‘True 2’ believes students are succeeding academically and serving their community with passion and intensity within their interest groups.
‘True 2’ believes the Union should provide the resources to enable the student body to experience each other’s lives.

Educational Cable: News, C-SPAN, History, Discovery and local channels [with] informal discussion between students and top administrators
Campus-wide access to BUTV: Working to bring the talent of BUTV to your dorms and your George Sherman [Union]. Forecast your day’s events from the comfort of your own dorm room
Flat Screen Monitors in the GSU: Providing a creative, attractive centralized runner-board system to enhance student group advertising
TRUE REPRESENTATION
Reforming our Constitution: Increasing efficacy to devote more time to the goals YOU desire
Recruiting and Retaining Minority students: Utilizing the multicultural council to provide programs like an accepted minority students’ weekend
Presidential Search: Encouraging student opinion in the search for a new president
B.I.G.: Boston Intercollegiate Government, fostering a city-wide political alliance among major Boston universities
TRUE SERVICES
24-hour study lounge: Finalizing an all-equipped, all-accessible study space
Virtual campus: Placing dormitory floor plans online, placing course syllabi online. Improving our website to promote student groups and area nightlife
Low Cost Travel to Northeast destinations: Continuing a cost-efficient, spirit-oriented travel service home for the holidays
Shuttle Service: Creating an efficient shuttle service that extends to the hours that students require
TRUE PRIDE
Monthly Multicultural Programs: Fostering and championing diversity by experiencing the many cultures that YOU have to offer
Post-Game Spirit Parties: Promoting spirit and cohesion, and honoring athletes, all while creating a post-game tradition
Quality of Campus Life: Continuing work on the guest policy, assuring soap in the bathrooms and improving your residential experience
TRUE VOICE
Funding for Greek Life: Working with administration to ensure the underrepresented Greeks get the funding they deserve
Student Activity Fee: Reassessing the Activity Fee to bring more major concerts and programs to YOU
Dean’s Luncheon: Continuing and improving the opportunity to meet with deans to convey YOUR concerns
