Trash theft leads to arrests

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs from Oct. 27 through Nov. 12.

Police arrested two Boston University students after one of them allegedly stole a trash barrel from the alleyway next to Harry Agganis Way on Nov. 2. Thomas Craig, 20, of Allston, was charged with theft and resisting arrest. Because police also found a fake New Jersey ID and an altered New Hampshire ID, he also faces felony charges of two counts of possessing false identification.

William Boeschenstein, 19, was arrested in connection with the incident for minor in possession of alcohol and resisting arrest.

The two students were caught in front of the Planned Parenthood at 1055 Commonwealth Ave. after fleeing from police.

HARD HATS REQUIRED

Three BU students were caught sneaking into the John Hancock Student Village construction site at about 3 a.m. on Nov. 2. When officers confronted them, the three fled. Two were caught in the construction site and arrested.

Arpan Patel, 18, was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest. Matt Saal, 18, was charged with vandalism in addition to the same charges as Patel, but the police report did not specify the damage to the site. The third student escaped capture but was later found at his residence and served with a summons to court.

SOMEONE’S GONNA HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT, SON

Rodrigo Jose Diaz-Garbizu, a 20-year-old BU student, was arrested on Nov. 4 for allegedly shattering the back window of a white Volkswagen Jetta in front of 46 Mountfort St. Diaz-Garbizu was with two other BU students at the time, but neither was charged.

A car parked in behind 90 Bay State Road had its left rear window smashed and a CD player and a CD stolen from it on Nov. 12. The value of the lost items is estimated at $500.

ANYTHING BUT THE FACE!

As a 19-year-old male BU student walked on the sidewalk at 184 Bay State Road, an unidentified male reportedly punched him in the face for no apparent reason. After paramedics treated cuts around his left eye, the student was released at the scene. He was unable to give a description of the attacker, and police said they have no suspects.

THE ATM WASN’T OPEN

$1,075 was stolen from the Laser Center at 930 Commonwealth Ave. on Nov. 5 out of a locked refrigerator in one of the labs. A number of keys, including the one to the fridge, were discovered rummaged through on Nov. 4, but the money was not discovered missing until Nov. 5. Police said they currently have no suspects.

A cash box containing $100 was stolen from the executive offices at 1 Sherborn St. on Oct. 28.

The suspect in the theft is a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds and was last seen wearing a baseball cap and carrying a backpack.
