Man carjacked in rental car in Allston

The following reports were taken from the Boston Police Department’s District 14 (Allston-Brighton) crime logs for the period of April 10 through April 19.

A Brighton man was mugged and carjacked by two unidentified males at 49 Pratt St. in Allston at about 9:45 p.m. last Wednesday.

The victim told police one of the suspects got out of a 1995 gray Acura Legend with partial license plate number 617, pointed a knife at the victim and demanded cash. The victim reportedly gave the suspect $25, causing the suspect to get angry and search the victim’s pockets, out of which he took more money, credit and debit cards, a driver’s license, a wallet and a cell phone.

The second suspect then allegedly got out of his car and into the 2000 Toyota Camry the victim was driving and drove down Pratt Street toward Brighton Avenue. The other suspect reportedly got back into the Acura and followed the stolen vehicle.

The victim told police he did not know the car’s registration information because it was a rental from an auto body shop that was fixing his car. He said he would report it stolen the following morning.

A HALLMARK MOMENT BROUGHT TO YOU BY MARY JANE

A Brighton man was summoned to Brighton District Court for reportedly purchasing drugs inside a building near the intersection of North Harvard and Empire streets in Brighton while his mother waited in the car at about 6:20 p.m. on Monday, April 12.

Officers investigating drug activity in the area reportedly observed Barry McRaynor, 25, of 24 Murdock St. in Brighton, get out of his mother’s car at a Hess gas station, meet an unknown man and enter a nearby building with him. They then saw McRaynor exit the building and “walk with his hand pushed down in his pants pocket,” an “activity … consistent with a drug transaction.”

Officers reportedly stopped McRaynor and told him what they had seen. He allegedly admitted to purchasing a large bag of marijuana, which he turned over to the officers. McRaynor was reportedly known to officers because he has been caught in possession of marijuana before.

The drugs were logged at the station and will be sent for further analysis.

Two unidentified armed males robbed an Arlington woman as she walked to her residence on Lorraine Terrace and tried to get her to enter their vehicle before passers-by scared them off. The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 14.

The victim told police the two suspects approached her and one “motioned that he had a weapon in his waist area” before screaming obscenities at her and demanding she give them all of her things. The woman reportedly gave the robbers her purse, which contained money, credit and debit cards and her house keys.

The woman said the suspect then “motioned for her to get into a nearby motor vehicle,” at which point pedestrians scared the suspects into their car and they fled through the rear parking lot near Genetti’s Wine ‘ Spirits at 1441 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton.

Police searched the area but did not find the suspects.
