Meet field hockey sophomore Sarah Shute, the DFP’s inaugural Athlete of the Month.
The 5-foot-4 starting forward out of Lincolnville, Maine leads the America East in goals per game (.55) and after nine games finds herself in a four-way draw for the league’s top scorer spot, netting five. And while her 1.44 points per game helped her become America East’s first 2005 Player of the Week (Sept. 6), her impressive 3.22 shots per game places her second in the conference.
No. 9 has three assists in her nine starts and leads the Terrier squad in shots with 29 and points, with 13.
