I should know better than to use that language in an on-the-record interview, even though I was referring specifically to his handling of the accreditation of the journalism department, and not to his general abilities.
I would also like to apologize for presenting, as fact, what was hearsay information about Dr. Silber’s attitude toward the journalism department and toward its accreditation. I had been informed of these attitudes by several academic executives in the Journalism Department and the College of Communication over the years, but I never spoke personally with Dr. Silber about these topics.
