Final season DVD of sitcom satisfies all kinds of ‘Friends’

Viewers who have been craving sixsome urban New Yorker comedy will be more than satisfied when the final season of “Friends” arrives in stores Tuesday. After ten years in primetime, the show’s main characters are still fresh and entertaining thanks to some hilarious story lines. Fans discover much, such as why Monica is afraid of bean bag chairs; that Joey starred in a Japanese lipstick commercial; that Phoebe spent her sweet 16 being chased around a tire yard by an escaped mental patient; and how Rachel had a traumatic swing experience when she was four. Out of the season’s 18 episodes, two stand out as instant classics. Skip over Rachel and Joey’s short relationship and Ross’s whining to the third episode, “The One With Ross’s Tan.” Ross decides to get a spray-on tan, but his confusion about the instructions, and failure to count “Mississippilesly,” causes the worst – and funniest – tan line imaginable.

For more laughs, pop in the second disc, focusing on “The One Where the Stripper Cries.” With flashbacks to 1987 of Rachel (with her old nose), Monica (with an extra 200 pounds) and Chandler and Ross (with unfortunate ’80s hair), Joey as the celebrity guest on Pyramid and Danny DeVito as the stripper at Phoebe’s bachelorette party, every scene in the episode is hilarious.

The DVD also includes an entire disc’s worth of special features. Die-hard fans will appreciate the interviews with the cast, guest stars and producers, as well as the gag reels from seasons one through four and 10, which provide insight into each actor’s personality and thoughts. m
