SAOSIN: Saosin

After frontman Anthony Green left Saosin (pronounced: Say-Ocean) in 2003, many critics claimed the band would be nothing without his presence. However, with a new lead singer and a self-titled full-length debut on Capitol Records, Saosin has proved its detractors entirely wrong. The album gives listeners a sonic boom of hard-hitting guitar riffs, catchy hooks and enchanting ambient verses powered by beautiful bass lines. What is most impressive about the album is Cove Reber’s vocal performance. His lyrics are intelligently inspiring and his voice is absolutely beautiful. On “Voices,” Reber displays his amazing vocal range and passionately declares the difficulty of expressing one’s true thoughts. The album gets better with each listen and is a must have for fans of post-hardcore underground rock. Grade: B+
