Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theatres

It seems criminal that intelligent and well-done cartoon-to-movie adaptations, such as South Park: Bigger Longer ‘ Uncut, are forced to share a universe with Aqua Teen’s jumble of disjointed scenes and non-sequiturs. The Aqua Teen movie mocks any desire a viewer may have for meaning, logic, continuity or plot. Its animation — only slightly better than that of the cartoon on which it’s based — is wretched.

Nonetheless, the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie works. Its humor defies all analysis and explanation, but its absurdist style makes it funnier than almost anything else in theaters. So in following Master Shake (Dana Snyder), Frylock (Carey Means) and Meatwad (Dave Willis) in a quest to discover their origins and fight an evil exercise machine, expect no less and little more than 86 minutes of their TV show. A single 2-minute musical sequence in the beginning of the movie, however, is enough to merit seeing this on the big screen.

The movie’s box office results will likely attract the bomb squad’s attention, but that’s inevitable with a target audience so narrow. The film will baffle anyone new to the franchise, but fans will be satisfied.
