M. bball recruit Munoz granted release

High school senior Daniel Munoz, who had signed a letter of intent to join the Boston University men’s basketball team when former BU coach Dennis Wolff was still at the helm, has been granted his release by the Athletics Department.

Munoz, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound true point guard from St. Thomas Aquinas School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was recruited for his abilities to manage the game, possessing exceptional passing skills either on the fast break or while running half-court sets. Munoz attended workouts with the Terriers in early September, but will now seek other options for collegiate play.

Coupled with Monday’s release of reigning America East Rookie of the Year Jake O’Brien, Munoz’s release means the Terriers will have three scholarships available for first-year coach Patrick Chambers (previously the associate head coach at Villanova University) to use.

  1. No big loss and it’s probably better that Coach Chambers gets to pick more<br/>recruits for his own system.
