Boston University field hockey junior forward Andrea Greene has been the best Terrier on attack halfway through the team's 17-game regular season schedule. She leads No. 11 BU in goals (7) and points (16).
This is Greene's first year in NCAA play after transferring from Universidad Diego Portales in her native Chile a year ago. She was also a three-year member of the country's junior national team before moving up to BU, where she'll have two more years of eligibility.
The Daily Free Press caught up with Greene to talk about her transition to BU and her activities both on and off Jack Barry Field.
What has been your favorite moment at BU, on or off the field?
Maybe the goal versus BC is the highlight so far. Off the field, it's been the team. Since I came here, everyone has been so welcoming. I've never felt homesick or anything, so that's been very good.
What made you decide to leave Chile and come to BU?
I was thinking about it for a while, then I came to play in the World Cup last year for Chile and fell in love with Boston, BU, met the coaches and decided to come.
If you were not playing field hockey, what would you be doing?
I want to say watching TV, but I like being an active person and I would probably play another sport.
Who has helped you the most so far at BU?
[Senior forward] Allie Dolce. Since I got here, we clicked and she's been a great friend. Her and her family have been very helpful, and it's like my second family so it's very good.
What is your favorite spot in Boston?
I love the Charles. I love watching the boats in the Charles, that's one of the best things to do here.
Off the field, what do you hope to accomplish on the individual level?
On a personal level, the whole experience of coming here, meeting new people, learning a different culture. That's all I want.
What is your favorite thing to do at BU in your free time?
There's not much free time, but just hanging around with the girls and fooling around, walking around the city.
