In a weekend plagued with rain, the Boston University women’s golf team finished a disappointing 13th out of 14 in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships Sunday and Monday. The tournament, which took place at the Twisted Dune Golf Club in Egg Harbor Township, N.J., was eventually called short after inclement weather made play almost impossible.
After the ECAC consulted the Twisted Dune Golf Club staff, play was suspended at 3 p.m. on Monday. All 14 teams had been able to complete the first nine holes of the round, and scores were totaled out of 27 holes instead of the usual 32.
Led by senior Ana Johnson, whose score of 90 on Sunday and 39 on Monday awarded her 38th place, the Terriers finished with a team score of 533. Freshman Christine Silen finished second on the BU roster and 46th overall with a combined score of 132 for the two days. Her score of 88 was a team low on the first day of play. Close behind Silen was sophomore Jill Meelman, whose total score of 134 allowed her a 53rd-place finish.
Junior Courtney Dampolo finished with a two-day total of 140 for a 64th place finish and senior Dana DeStefano finished 55th with a combined score of 135.
On Oct. 15 and 16 the team participates in the Rutgers Invitational, where it’ll hope to find both better weather and better results.
