City Crime Logs: Yankee Brutal went to town

The following reports were taken from the Boston Police Department crime logs from Oct. 14 to Oct. 19.

A man wearing a New York Yankees cap was assaulted at 135 Harvard Ave. on Saturday while walking on the corner of Harvard and Brighton Avenue. A man walked up to the victim, a 21-year-old male, and asked “Why are you wearing that hat around here?” This man then proceeded to punch the victim in the face, knocking him to the ground and causing him to bleed from the hands and chin. The suspect then fled down the Brighton Avenue toward Chester Street. Police believed the Yankees fan was too intoxicated to provide an accurate description of his attacker.

Was it the Hamburglar?

An unarmed robbery took place in a McDonald’s bathroom at 1223 Commonwealth Ave. on Friday at about 10:52 p.m. The victim, a 17-year-old man, was followed down Harvard Avenue by the suspect before both went into the McDonald’s bathroom. The victim took out his wallet and dropped a credit card on the floor. After the victim picked up the wallet, the suspect, a 19-year-old man, snatched the wallet away, took a $100 bill from it and told the man, “You’re being robbed.” The suspect then ran away. After this, the police found a man who was positively identified by the victim as the suspect. They found $40 in his pocket and a bag of pills and a “green leaflike substance” in his underwear.

Caught red-handed

A witness saw three men tagging 1186 Commonwealth Ave. with green, grey, pink, white and black graffiti lettering on October 18 at approximately 2:30 a.m. The witness alerted the police, who found the victims in the back of the Wonder Bar taking spray paint cans out of a backpack. The suspects were found with spray paint cans in two of their hands with the remaining cans in the backpack. Pink, blue, green and black paint were found on the suspects’ hands. Police also found several folders containing graffiti patterns.
