CITY CRIME LOGS

The following reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton District D-14 crime logs from Sept. 7 to Sept. 14, 2011.

Hit-and-run

Boston Police arrested two men in connection with a road-rage incident on Commonwealth Ave. at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The first suspect got out of his car to smash the windows of SUV at the red light in front of him. The driver then sped away, but when he hit the gas, he nearly hit a bicyclist, who jumped off of his bike to safety just in time. The victim declined medical attention, but was cut and bruised after falling down near 900 Commonwealth Ave. The bicycle was also smashed underneath the SUV. Officers arrived on the scene when an altercation broke out between the two drivers, one holding a baseball bat and the other holding an iron bar.

MacBook crook

On Sept. 9 at 2 a.m., two female students from Berklee School of Music reported that someone broke into their apartment at 22 Highgate St. in Allston. When an officer arrived, the girls told him that they left the room at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 and returned back at their room at 1:40 a.m. to find two MacBooks missing. Because the room had no door, anyone was able to enter the room at any hour and take the computers that BPD valued at about $3,000 each. The students were advised to report the serial numbers of their laptops to the departments trace program.

Sorry doesn’t cut it

An officer on duty observed a male Boston University student drinking beer from a red plastic cup near the intersection of Pratt St. and Wadsworth St. at 1:30 a.m. on Friday. The officer was on special assignment at BU to patrol the area from 11:45 p.m. to 3:45 a.m. The student was a minor and was fined two hundred dollars for drinking alcohol in public. He said, “I’m very sorry officer,” and showed regret for his actions.

Mass larceny

On Friday at 1 p.m., an officer responded to a call from a 23-year-old male about a break-in at 41 Hano St. The victim stated that his apartment was forcibly broken into via the side kitchen window while he was out. The suspect left debris where he or she entered, but no other evidence could be found. The victim was advised to better secure his apartment. Among the stolen items was a Sony Vaio laptop, an iPad, a gold chain, a class ring and a 42-inch plasma television. Police estimated $2600 in property loss.

The Brighton Beer Company

At 9 p.m. on Saturday, officers assigned to patrol Boston College received a call concerning a group of students making their own beer. The homemade distillery was set up behind 41 Orkney Rd. in Brighton in the back alley. The four male students aged from 20 to 21 had several pots, coolers, hoses and a propane tank hooked up. The students had a fire extinguisher onsite and appeared “orderly.” Officers instructed the students to break it down and bring everything inside besides the propane tank, and they did so without complaints.

Keg party shutdown

At 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, three officers responded to a party at 44 Pratt St. in Allston. An officer noticed a male standing in the backyard of the residence with a red cup who tried to go back inside when he saw the officer. The male was stopped and identified himself as an 18-year-old BU student. Officers entered the basement and about 150 kids filed out. Officers spoke with the lessee of the apartment, a 19-year-old female who also attends BU. She was cooperative with officers and they seized a keg of beer, a keg tap and one sheet of paper stating who was working the keg and door. The items were handed in for evidence.
