Men’s Ice Hockey: BU vs. University of Denver

Watch BU take on University of Denver on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 7 pm at Agganis Arena. You can purchase your tickets online at GoTerriers.com or visit the box office anytime Monday-Friday from 10 am until 5 pm. The Pioneers are currently ranked third in the division while BU hold on to their number 8 spot behind Colorado College.

15th annual Boston University Fringe Festival

In its 15^th year, the BU College of Fine Arts’ Fringe Festival continues this weekend through Oct. 29. A collaboration between the School of Theatre and the School of Music Opera Institute, each weekend’s production features works by Béla Bartók, Jake Heggie, and Lynn Nottage. “Three Decembers”, based on an original play by Terrence McNally, will be performed this weekend. All three of the opera performances will emphasize on the CFA’s Keyword Initiative, which focuses on the theme of violence. “Three Decembers” will be performed Oct. 14 and 15 at 8 pm and Oct. 16 at 2 pm and 6 pm at the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Studio 210 at Boston University Theatre. General admission tickets are $7, BU students can receive one free ticket with their BU ID (subject to availability). Drag Ball presented by Spectrum

Students can come show off their drag queen (and king) alter egos at this year’s Drag Ball on Oct. 14 at Metcalf Hall in the GSU, presented by Spectrum, BU’s own LGBT social organization. The ball was voted the best student event last year at the SAO Awards. The dancing and amateur acts starts at 10 pm. Fena Barbitall, a famous Boston drag queen will host and DJ Go and DJ Valence will be featured. “Attendees can expect a high energy event with creative costumes, fun, danceable music,” said Katherine Law, Spectrum’s vice president. Tickets are $5 at the door and the event is open to the public.

Kings of Salsa

Escape Boston’s chilly weather this weekend and take in a sizzling performance by some of Cuba’s best young salsa dancers at Cutler Majestic Theatre at Emerson College. Choreographed by renowned Cuban cheorographer Roclan González Chávez, the performance will feature the nine-piece live band Cuba Ashire, which will showcase contemporary spins on classics such as the mambo, rumba, and cha cha cha. Performances will take place Oct. 14 and 15 at 8 pm. Reserved seating starts at $40 and can be purchased at www.worldmusic.org or by calling (617) 824-8000.

Boston Bike Film Festival

Take a break from studying and take in Boston on two wheels. Ticketholders can check out various sites in Boston and Cambridge that have been featured in movies or will appear in upcoming movies on a leisurely bike ride at the 7^th Annual Boston Bike Film Festival. The first 100 admitted to the festival will receive 24-hour passes to Hubway, Boston’s new bike-sharing service. The festival will show a dozen different films from Boston and abroad. “Each year, we support different bike organizations in the area, For 2011, we’re donating the proceeds of the Film Festival to MassBike and Bikes Not Bombs,” said Karin Turer, spokesperson for the Boston Bike Film Festival. “They are both great groups doing great work in the community and beyond.”

Faneuil Hall Marketplace Annual Fall Fest & A Cappella Competition

Come cheer on some BU’s premier a cappella groups as they take on rivals from schools like Emerson, Boston College, University of New Hampshire, Tufts and Dartmouth at Faneuil Hall’s Annual Fall Fest & A Cappella Competition on Oct. 15 and 16. Activities on Saturday include pumpkin decorating and face painting, a sidewalk sale, and an art show benefitting the Small Can Be Big organization. Spectators can also taste food from Zuma, Boston Chipyard and Kingfish Hall. A Cappella group performances are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
