A Boston University student sustained injuries after being struck by a car at the corner of Granby Street and Bay State Road on Tuesday at 4:52 p.m., police officials said.
Boston Police Department spokesman David Estrada said an 18-year-old female was walking across Granby Street when a 2005 Toyota 4Runner hit her. The car was making a left onto Granby Street when it hit the student.
Estrada said BU Police Department and BPD officers arrived at the scene at about 5 p.m. and questioned the victim and the driver. The victim told police that the car struck her as she walked down the crosswalk, causing her to fall to the ground.
“The car didn’t hit her really hard, but still enough to knock her down,” said College of Arts and Sciences freshman Lindsay Flammey, one of more than two dozen students who crowded at the scene after the accident.
The student, who said she felt a pain in her knees, was transported by an ambulance to Boston Medical Center to receive further treatment for non-life threatening injuries, Estrada said.
The driver stated that he did not see the victim, Estrada said.
BUPD Sergeant Pat Nuzzi confirmed that the student was walking within the crosswalk when she was struck by the car and that there appeared to be no witnesses present to testify to the exact sequence of events.
