A Peter Pan bus carrying Boston University hockey fans collided with a car Friday at 5 p.m., as the bus headed to Lowell for the men’s hockey game.
The accident occurred on the corner of Brighton Avenue and Linden Street, a Boston Police Department spokesman said. The bus clipped the rear bumper of a blue Ford Focus at 95 Brighton Ave. No injuries were reported.
The bus driver, who declined to release his name due to company policy, confirmed he “ripped off” the car’s bumper. The owner of the car refused to exchange insurance information and insisted on calling the police.
The incident was reported at 5:45 p.m., at which point officers were dispatched to the scene. Paperwork was exchanged at the scene, but no report was filed.
The bus was back on the road to the Tsongas Center, where the game was being held, by 6:10 p.m.
Some students on the bus, however, were unaware the accident occurred.
“I didn’t know what was going on until we pulled over. It wasn’t a big deal at all,” said Bhrighde Kehoe, a College of Arts and Sciences freshman.
“It was awesome,” said School of Management senior Will McColl, leader of the Dog Pound, a group of BU athletics fans.
The Facebook event for the trip was titled “Highway to LoHELL,” which McColl said made “the incident that much more comical.”
“I thought it was really funny,” said Eva Gach, a junior in School of Education and CAS. “It was ironic that the hashtag for this trip was ‘Highway to LoHell’ and this accident happened as we were going to hell.”
