City Crime Logs

The following reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton D-14 crime logs from Dec. 6 to Dec. 11.

iPad the Fifth

Police responded to a call about a larceny incident at the Brighton Division of the Brighton District Court House, located at 52 Academy Hill Road, at 10:15 a.m. Friday. When police arrived at the scene, the victim stated that his black iPad had gone missing between 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. He told police that his iPad was inside his bag, which he kept at close proximity the entire time. The victim received a GPS signal from the iPad at the corner of North Harvard Street and Harvard Street. Officers interviewed one person who was in the courthouse that day for allegedly stealing an iPhone and selling it at the Replay Store. Employees at the store said they had not seen the iPad, and the person in court denied stealing one.

Call of destiny

The police received a call at 1:50 a.m. Saturday about a fight involving a knife at Wadsworth Street and Hartley Terrace in Allston. Detectives observed a 2002 Toyota Corolla a few blocks away from the location of the call, and the suspect was later asked to pull over by a BUPD officer. The suspect’s face was covered with several bruises, as was that of the man in the passenger seat. Officers found two cell phones on one suspect, one of which began to ring. When an officer answered the phone, a 911 operator told him that he was holding the same phone that reported the call of the knife fight. Later, a victim told an officer that he was missing his cell phone, which was knocked out of his hand after he called the police about the fight.

Bottle Bash

At about 1:12 a.m. on Sunday, an incident of assault occurred at the Tavern in the Square Bar at 161 Brighton Ave. in Allston. An officer at the scene said he observed a group of men and women running toward Linden Street on Brighton Avenue. A fight ensued when the group came to a stop at 129 Brighton Ave., and the officer dispersed the crowd. The police spoke to one man, who said he was attacked and chased by several bouncers while at the bar. However, when the police arrived at the bar, witnesses stated that a bouncer was actually struck on the head with a beer bottle. The victim told police that during an argument with people in the bar, an unknown female struck him and fled. The victim said he chased after the group because he was trying to break up a fight.

A golden lead

At 3:39 p.m. Thursday, a woman filed a report about missing jewelry from her residence on Matchett Street in Allston. She told officers that she had a bag of jewelry, which contained 17 gold-colored rings, a gold leaf pen, and two pairs of earrings — one gold and one diamond — in her bedroom closet. She first observed that the items were missing on Friday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. She stated that the last time she actually saw the jewelry was eight weeks before she realized that it was missing, and that there were no signs of forced entry into her home.
