Campus Crime Logs: Sept. 11 – Sept. 14

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department from Sept. 11 to Sept. 14.

Alcohol seized from male student in West Campus

At 8:27 p.m. Friday, officers saw a 20-year-old male student carrying cases of beer at the intersection of Gardner Street and Malvern Street. The alcohol was seized and the student is being summoned to Brighton District Court for minor alcohol possession.

Two bicycles stolen from Warren Towers

Between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, two 18-year-old male students reported their bikes were stolen from in front of Warren Towers at 700 Commonwealth Ave. The bikes were secured to the bike rack at the front of the building. One of the bikes was secured only by the front tire; the thief left the front tire and took the rest of the bike.

Broken window at 10 Buick St.

Around 3:30 a.m. Friday, a person heard banging noises in the common area of the first floor of the Student Village at 10 Buick St. When she checked, she found that a window had been broken in the common area. Nothing was stolen.

Bomb threat at Goodwill on campus

BUPD officers and Boston Police Department officers responded to a bomb threat at 965 Commonwealth Ave. around 3:58 p.m. Saturday. People overheard someone on a cell phone mentioning the words “bomb now,” leaving a piece of luggage and walking out of the building. The luggage was empty and the suspect was never located. BUPD is still looking to identify the man.

Two students stopped with backpacks of beer

Officers stopped two 18-year-old male students around 7:36 p.m. near Gardner Street and Malvern Street Friday. The students were carrying approximately 70 beers in two backpacks and one had a fake ID. Officers determined they were underage and summoned them to Brighton District Court.

Laptop stolen from Sleeper Hall dorm

An 18-year-old student reported her laptop was stolen from her backpack in her dorm room in Sleeper Hall, 275 Babcock St. The theft occurred between Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 a.m. Her door was unlocked the whole time.

Card information used to buy hair

At 1:45 a.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old male reported that $465 in unauthorized charges were made on his credit card while the card was in his possession. The card was used over the Internet to purchase hair extensions.

Packages stolen from 853 Beacon St. lobby

At approximately 6:01 p.m. Monday, a 25-year-old female student reported that five packages of clothing were stolen from the lobby of 853 Beacon St. Based on her package tracking, she knew the packages were there and realized they were missing. The estimated value of the boxes is $600.

Man selling knives arrested in Kenmore Square

A 55-year-old non-affiliated white male was arrested Monday in Kenmore Square for attempting to sell knives to passers-by. On the sidewalk near 500 Commonwealth Ave., the male attempted to sell two knives, one with a 15-inch blade and the other with a 12-inch blade. When officers checked the man, he had a default warrant. He was arrested and charged with the carrying of a dangerous weapon.
