In response to the letter by Samir Corrales, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, (“SMG-exclusive career fairs should be open to all majors,” Sept. 28, p. 6): It is important to understand that the Feld Career Center at the School of Management was established to serve the needs of SMG students. Each of our competitor schools of business provides substantial career services, and SMG strives to remain fully competitive with other management schools in this important area. Accordingly, we have been provided facilities and staff to assist SMG’s 3,000 students. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity, physical or human, to handle Boston University’s entire student population.
BU does have the Office of Career Services, where students can avail themselves of comprehensive assessment tools, career advising, job postings and employer networking events. We at the Feld Career Center try to coordinate with that office, and with individual schools and colleges, when a recruiting firm seeks candidates with backgrounds other than those of SMG students.
