105th Boston Marathon

More than 15,000 runners attempted the 105th Boston Marathon yesterday, with 97 percent of official entrants finishing the grueling 26.2-mile course. Bong-Ju Lee took the men’s race, becoming the first Korean to win since 1950 and the first non-Kenyan to don the laurel wreath in a decade. Kenya’s Catherine Ndereba repeated her conquest of the women’s field, leaving her competitors in her dust and showing the Kenyan Olympic Committee leaving her off their 2000 team was a mistake.
