After a pair of impressive performances in a two-win weekend for the Boston University men's soccer team, junior forward Ben Berube and freshman back Kelvin Madzongwe were each recognized with America East weekly awards.
Berube, who scored his first three goals of the season in this weekend's contests, was named AE Player of the Week, and Madzongwe, who tallied his first goal of the year in addition to being part of a back line that allowed just one shot on goal all weekend, was named AE Rookie of the Week.
Berube was named to College Soccer News National Team of the Week in addition to his AE honors. He is the first Terrier to gain both national and conference honors in the same week since senior forward Aaron O'Neal did so in Sept. 2009. Since the natural midfielder moved to forward for the first time this season on Friday, Berube has made the difference for BU on the front line.
Madzongwe, a native of Zimbabwe, has started all nine games so far in his freshman year. He was instrumental in helping the Terriers hold the University of Rhode Island without a shot on goal on Friday.
