Campus Crime Logs

The following reports were taken from the Boston University Police Department crime logs from Nov. 7 to Nov. 13, 2011.

Warning: Park Courteously

On Nov. 8 at 808 Commonwealth Ave., a male BU employee reported at 4:40 p.m. that his car was vandalized while parked in the garage. The employee told police that someone had keyed his car and left a note that said “Only one spot, asshole.” A suspect for the vandalism was not found.

Occupied BU for less than six hours

About 30 students set up tents in support of the Occupy movement on Marsh Plaza at 735 Commonwealth Ave. on Nov. 9. The students arrived at 2:30 a.m., and police notified them that they were not permitted to be there. For the rest of the morning, students remained, but they finally left on their own without police force at 8 a.m.

Steadfast strides

At 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, police responded to a call regarding an escalated fight at Marsh Plaza. Police were told that ROTC members were hosting a Veteran’s Day ceremony and directing pedestrians to walk around the event. A BU faculty member who refused to comply tried instead to walk through the ceremony and got into an altercation with a few of the ROTC members. Police arrived shortly after to settle the fight.

Assault and battery

Police arrested a student for assault and battery on Nov. 12 at 12:50 a.m. at 32 Harry Agganis Way. A BU student and two of his friends were fighting about what police understood to be a girl with a non-BU student. Witnesses said that when the fight escalated, the BU student attacked the other male and split open his head. His two friends fled before police arrived, and police arrested the one student on arrival. The non-BU student who was assaulted was transported to Boston Medical Center.
Uninvited

At 5 Cummington St. on Nov. 13 at 11:15 a.m., a male BU employee reported that a man who was not affiliated with BU got into the building with no reason to be there. When the employee questioned the suspect, the suspect pushed the employee back. When police arrived, they relocated the suspect and found him in possession of marijuana. The suspect, found to be out of Stoughton, was given a citation for the marijuana and a verbal warning to stay off BU property. He will also be summonsed to court for the assault on the employee.
