City Crime Logs: Thanksgiving of thievery

The following reports were taken from the Allston-Brighton District D-14 crime logs from Nov. 23 to Nov. 29, 2011.

Officers received a call on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 12:30 p.m. for a breaking and entering at 50 Kirkwood Rd. in Brighton. The victim, a 24-year-old male, said that after being out with friends since 12:30 p.m. the previous night, he returned home to find that someone had stolen an antique pocket-watch and his iPad. A window in his residence was left open with the screen removed, he said, and a battery charger had been knocked to the ground outside his window. Detectives arrived on scene to speak with the victim and to take custody of the battery charger in hopes to secure fingerprints and to find a possible suspect.

Something old, something new

Officers answered a call last Saturday at about 4:45 p.m. regarding a breaking and entering that took place at 81 Brighton Ave. in Allston. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the resident, a 23-year-old female, who said that someone entered her apartment and stole a laptop, a video camera and $15 in assorted change between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Hewlett Packard laptop was valued at $600 and the video camera at $800. Officers observed that the suspects pried open the front door to gain entry, causing damage to both the lock and doorframe. Officers spoke to other residents in the apartment building, but their investigation was to no avail.

Strolled right in

Last Saturday at about 10:30 p.m., a 20-year-old female resident reported a theft at 25 Walbridge St. in Allston. The victim reported that an unknown person had entered her unlocked apartment sometime on Nov. 23 and stole her MacBook Pro laptop, valued at $1,200. The victim provided an officer with her computer’s serial number in case it is recovered.
