The Boston University women’s cross country team trekked to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on Oct. 5 and placed 17th out of 43 teams with 472 points in the Paul Short Run.
Freshman Sophia Jacobs-Townsley and senior Abigail Gugel placed within the top 50 of the race. Jacobs-Townsley finished with a time of 20:52.7, earning her 47th place.
Gugel finished with a time of 20:52.9 in 48th place. Freshman Andrea Claeson was the next Terrier to cross the finish line at 21:05.3, earning her 77th place. She was followed by junior Corinne Batsu (21:10.9) in 89th. Junior Laura Parkinson finished shortly after with a time of 22:22.1.
The Terriers will race again at the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 19.
The BU men’s cross country team also raced in the Paul Short Run on Oct. 5 and placed 18th out of 44 teams with 567 points. Senior Paul Luevano and redshirt junior Brett Davidson finished within the top 40.
Luevano finished the 8K with a time of 23:57.3, earning him 30th place. Shortly after, Davidson crossed the finish line in 40th place with a time of 24:08.1. Senior Greg Pelose finished in 24:53.4, followed by junior Jonathan Fierro (25:02.8).
The Terriers will race again on Oct. 19 at the Princeton Invitational, which will be their final race before the Patriot League Championship.
The BU women’s tennis team play next on Oct. 17-22 in West Point, New York at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.
The BU women’s golf team wrapped up their three-day Yale University Intercollegiate Tournament in a tie for 10th place overall out of 14 teams with Princeton University. The tournament lasted Oct. 4-6 in New Haven, Connecticut and the team concluded the invitational with a score of 905.
Freshman Kristen Min Ju Kim set a personal record by shooting 69 in the final round, her best recorded score in a round as a Terrier. She finished the tournament tied for 17th place overall with a score of 221 (79-73-69), her best collegiate performance so far in a 54-hole total.
Junior Katerina Doleckova finished with a score of 228 (78-73-77) and led the team with seven birdies, sinking six of her last 36 holes. Sophomore Hanako Kawasaki shot 227 (80-74-73). The team will close out their fall season Oct. 13-15 as they attend the Palmetto Intercollegiate, hosted by the College of Charleston.
