With the start of his final semester in office and as a student at Boston University, I urge Student Union President Adil Yunis to work on fulfilling the promises made during his presidential campaign last spring. These were the promises that helped him win the election. It was the thought that a Union “outsider” would be able to break past the bureaucracy and make progress that elevated Yunis to his narrow margin of victory.
As of yet, however, he has achieved little success, instead citing the need to “research.” Where are the joint meetings with other student groups? When will he reach out to the Office of Alumni Relations and the Student-Alumni Council to work on improving student-alumni relations? And how can I forget to ask the question he already faced during the first GA meeting of the semester: What about the medical amnesty policy and the rape crisis center?
These are just a small fraction of Yunis’s campaign promises, toward which he has yet to produce any results. It is important to hold our student leaders accountable. I urge every reader to visit buvotes.com, read his campaign promises and ask Yunis when he will fulfill them. Yunis has three months to produce tangible results. He has three months to make his presidency one of the most successful in the history of the Student Union. My recommendation to Yunis: Be sure to use these next three months wisely!
